Safety Certificate

As of 16.06.2019, the provisions related to the issuance of single safety certificates, in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/798 on railway transport safety, are in force in the Republic of Bulgaria. Some of these provisions were transposed with the amendments of 08.03.2019 to the Railway Transport Act.

Applicants should submit applications for a single safety certificate through the "One-Stop Shop" system, referred to in Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 2016/796 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2016 on the European Union Agency for Railways and repealing Regulation (EC) No 881/2004 (Regulation (EU) 2016/796) (OJ L 138/1 of 2016). A railway enterprise operating solely within the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria has the option to choose whether to submit the request for a single safety certificate to the national safety authority, in this case, the Executive Agency "Railway Administration", or to ERA.

To submit an application, applicants can use the Guide for the issuance of single safety certificates.
